Established in 2007, the Real Estate Program at the Goizueta Business School was developed in response to the industry's growing demand for high-caliber graduates. Located in one of the most active and dynamic real estate markets in the country, Goizueta has strong real estate connections and resources throughout Atlanta and beyond.
Our Founder: Roy T. Black
Roy T. Black has taught part-time at Goizueta since 1999, and was brought on to spearhead the program. Prior to entering academia, Roy spent 15 years as a real estate attorney.
The Goizueta Real Estate Program is centered in the Finance department at Goizueta and trains students in the nuances of the real estate industry. Emphasis is placed on factors that make up the market and the intricacies of properties as an asset in money management. In addition to fundamentals, students receive high-level training in development, REITS, and capital markets. Courses allow flexibility and interaction with local professionals, giving students a competitive advantage within the industry. Because real estate integrates marketing, strategy and other aspects of business, students are encouraged to take classes from a variety of academic areas to enrich their understanding of the industry, including classes in the Emory Law School and other Emory departments.
Erica Goldman, President
Erica is a senior at Goizueta studying finance and real estate. A Long Island native, she spent the summer before her sophomore year working for New York Based Development Firm RXR Realty as a property management intern in the Starrett-Lehigh Building. After sophomore year, Erica stayed in Atlanta working as an asset and investment management intern at Integral, an Atlanta based developer. This past summer, Erica worked on Well's Fargos Commercial Real Estate Team as a summer financial analyst where she enjoyed learning about the underwriting process and the southeast real estate market. Erica is an active member of Commercial Real Estate for Women (CREW) where she serves as a UCREW subcomittee member. Tyler Curran, Treasurer
Tyler is currently in his junior year at Goizueta pursuing concentrations in Finance, ISOM and Real Estate. This past summer, he was an analyst for Houlihan Lawrences’ Commercial Group in the greater New York City area. Tyler was exposed to many aspects of commercial real estate representation, such as planning and economic development sessions with municipalities, reviewing lease abstracts and letter of intent proposals, and the research, analysis and strategy needed to ensure success in a progressive and innovative market. Outside of Goizueta and the Real Estate Program, Tyler is a member of Emory’s Varsity Swimming and Diving Team, and enjoys talking sneakers, music, and all sports other than hockey. Tyler is looking forward to growth within the Real Estate Program moving forward.
Arjun Garg, Marketing Chair

He had the unique opportunity to work with both the Institutional Properties and Corporate Capital Markets Groups and enjoyed a great learning experience. He is also an active member of the Goizueta Real Estate Private Equity Board and a leader within Emory’s real estate community. Arjun is extremely excited to serve as the Marketing Chair for this upcoming year.
