Our History

Established in 2007, the Real Estate Program at the Goizueta Business School was developed in response to the industry's growing demand for high-caliber graduates. Located in one of the most active and dynamic real estate markets in the country, Goizueta has strong real estate connections and resources throughout Atlanta and beyond.

Our Founder: Roy T. Black

Roy T. Black has taught part-time at Goizueta since 1999, and was brought on to spearhead the program. Prior to entering academia, Roy spent 15 years as a real estate attorney.

The Goizueta Real Estate Program is centered in the Finance department at Goizueta and trains students in the nuances of the real estate industry. Emphasis is placed on factors that make up the market and the intricacies of properties as an asset in money management. In addition to fundamentals, students receive high-level training in development, REITS, and capital markets. Courses allow flexibility and interaction with local professionals, giving students a competitive advantage within the industry. Because real estate integrates marketing, strategy and other aspects of business, students are encouraged to take classes from a variety of academic areas to enrich their understanding of the industry, including classes in the Emory Law School and other Emory departments.
